Your Impact

Building strength, stability, and self-reliance through affordable homeownership

“Never give up. Just keep fighting. One day you can accomplish your goal.” – Wiesam Sheikhi, homeowner of our 2020 Middletown build.

1 in 7 families in Maryland spend more than half of their income on housing. Home prices for rental and ownership continue to outpace wages in Frederick County. Families often find themselves struggling to meet basic needs and are forced to make impossible choices.

Habitat for Humanity of Frederick County builds and/or renovates houses and sells them to Habitat-qualified, first-time homebuyers. We work as partners with our homeowners to ensure they receive an affordable mortgage, attend homeowner classes, and put in sweat equity on their homes. We also work with homeowners who need critical safety repairs and/or modifications to be able to safely stay in their homes. Our goal is to help families build strength, stability, and self-reliance through affordable homeownership.

When mortgages and repairs are affordable, families have more to spend on the other areas of their lives, which opens opportunities for better education and employment. By supporting Habitat’s Blue Crabs & Blue Prints event and making a donation, YOU are creating the opportunity for a better life for your neighbors. THANK YOU!
