Volunteer Opportunites Habitat for Humanity is looking for volunteers to work at their construction site at the Silo Hill site in Emmitsburg, Md.. Typically, volunteers work from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old, but no experience is required. Contact Dee Danmeyer at 301-698-2449 or director@frederickhabitat.org for a volunteer form. We are also in need of several volunteers for the following positions:: Fundraising Committee: Committee helps develop and implement creative fund-raising and publicity ideas, can include public speaking, grant-proposal writing, researching donor sources, telephoning prospective donors and letter writing. Procurement: Volunteers will perform material ordering and identify and contract with subcontractors to perform professional work for Habitat home construction. Volunteer time will include soliciting suppliers and sub-contractors for donation of materials and/or their services. Logistics: Coordinate the scheduling and delivery of port-a-toilets, storage containers, the Habitat Sponsor sign, dumpster (pick up and delivery) and be in charge of the inventory of supplies (tools) and materials. Site Supervisors: Approximately 10 volunteers needed to work as construction supervisors on site with Habitat volunteers. Each volunteer will only be asked to work one or two days per month or less so there is no burn out. You would coordinate with the project mgrs for scheduling and delivery of materials and oversee the volunteers on your specific workday. Construction experience is necessary.
