impact fee collected on new housing for schools and libraries

October
27, 2005 (Thursday), New
fee increases housing costs - Cost to build new home in Frederick
may jump by $10,000, Gazette ( Frederick)
Building
a new home in the City of Frederick costs nearly $10,000 more
than it did in 2002, due to city and county fees. If the
city adopts a proposed transportation impact fee, the price would
jump another $10,000, making some wonder if affordable housing
in Frederick is just a pipe dream. …Real estate agent
Shreve, also the former president of Habitat for Humanity, is
more concerned that another fee will make Frederick the home
of the elite. Instead, he would like to see fees added to homes
that are larger and more expensive. ‘‘That much in
fees for a $500,000 home is not a big deal. But it is a big deal
for a $200,000 home,”he said. (More . . . http://www.gazette.net/stories/102705/frednew175533_31891.shtml)

News-Post, B-5, Churches team up with Habitat
Ask
Tina Jackson, Jodi Bacorn, Angie Gregory or Stacey McNally
if area church member scare, and the will answer
with a resounding “yes.” All four now own affordable
homes that local churchgoers made possible when they teamed with
Habitat for Humanity “giving a hand up, not a hand out.” Since
its 1993 start in Frederick through Church Women United, Habitat
has enjoyed incredible church support. Churches contributed money,
in-kind donations or volunteers on every one of Habitat’s
22 projects. Some make regular donations, while others give on
a project-by-project basis. Many recruit individual volunteers
as others organize work teams. Some take on whole projects. (More
