ABOUT HABITAT FOR HUMANITY OF FREDERICK COUNTY, MD

Churches

Frederick County has over 300 churches, many directly involved with Habitat.

Some make regular monthly donations to Habitat while others support its mission through periodic donations.

Others get involved in specific building projects by raising funds and recruiting workers.

In 2002, the nine congregations in the Frederick Regional Council of Episcopal Churches provided labor and raised over $6000 to frame and roof a new home in Adamstown. In addition, they organized a dedication-shower and gave the family furniture and household gifts.

In 2003, Frederick County United Methodist-Habitat Build (FCUMHB), a group of Frederick County's forty United Methodist Churches, joined forces to build a home in Brunswick which is nearly finished. The 150 foot sewer-line still needs to be laid and hooked up. This phase is due to be completed by the within the spring of 2004. The group raised over $50,000 to complete the home with some financial relief from the Town of Brunswick.

In Walkersville, MD a group of non-denominational churches built a two-bedroom house on Biggs Ford Road and dedicated it in December 2004.
